Match Report
Warminster School Boys-U8A vs  Heywood Preparatory School
On: Monday, 14 Oct 2019
Venue: Away

Despite the wet and the rain, the boys spirits were not dampened on Monday with all of them chatting and laughing as we travelled to Heywood. Being our first away fixture, there were definitely some nerves, as to be expected, but the boys pulled together as always! The day was set out in a tournament format including 6 teams from local schools. Each game lasted 10 minutes with little gap between each fixture which meant the boys didn't get too cold and their fitness was tested.

We started off a little tentative in our first match but soon got the ball moving and stringing together some decent passages of play. The boys really impressed me by independently ensuring all members of the team got hands on the ball and were involved in each game.

Austin captained the boys well this week and displayed great leadership and enthusiasm in some pretty grim conditions. Harry and Max gave 100% and showed perseverance against some very good year 3 sides. Fransisco's side stepping and hard work in defence was relentless as usual and was great to watch. Joseph continually put immense pressure on the opposition which forced handling errors and opened up opportunities for us in attack. Last but not least, Noah continued his confident running from last week and showed really impressive work rate throughout all fixtures.

The conditions on Monday made defending a real struggles as the tag belts were wet and hard to grip. Nevertheless, the boys continued to work hard in defence and made up for hard defending in the number of quality tries they scored. Thank you to those who came to support the lads in the cold and wet. It means a lot to the boys and hopefully you enjoyed yourselves.

Well played Warminster!
